Vacation-Inspired Bedrooms

We get all sorts of questions on the podcast about which rooms to furnish first and where to invest in your money. When posing these same questions to our designer guests, their response is usually to invest your dollars in either your living room or bedroom first. Spend the most money on the rooms where you spend the most time. We like to take this suggestion to mean that you should really make your bedroom feel personal and your own idea of bliss. What better place to find inspiration than your last vacation?

We dreamt up these two vacation-inspired bedrooms by tropical locales with the idea that your bedroom should bring you relaxation and peace.

Resort Style

Want to get away without going away? You don’t have to go far, just take a trip down the hall to your bedroom. In this room we incorporated all of our favorite elements of a hotel room to create the ultimate vacation-inspired sanctuary.

Every hotel room has a great bed, and our Emile Bed is a real standout. Like a hotel, we opted for light, white and airy drapes and bedding. To give the room more of a beach-y vibe, we knew we wanted to incorporate woven materials in a multitude of ways. You can see how me mixed them in through the chair, baskets, tray and natural fiber rug. Since we didn’t have a room with a view, we decided to bring nature indoors with various plants in hanging planters and vases.

Dream Worthy Bedding

Staying in a hotel is all about the little touches that really make your stay special. Once your vacation is over, why not bring them home with you after you leave? A simple way to elevate your room is with your bedding. If you’re like us, we have our best sleeps in a hotel bed. Treat yourself to luxurious sheets and bedding and see how much more you’ll enjoy climbing into bed.

Five Star Touches

Hotel rooms are very thought out and aim to make your life easier during your stay. Convenience is at top of mind, and we think we should be incorporating these same ideas into our homes! With a charging nightstand, you can keep your space neat and organized with cords out of the way. Little touches like these are often what makes the biggest difference in a room.

For our coffee lovers, try setting up your own in-room coffee bar. Fill up your bar cart with mugs, creamers, your favorite roast, and a travel size coffee maker. Roll the cart over when you’re ready for your first cup of the morning and enjoy some extra me time before you start your day.

Blue & Breezy

Inspired by Suzanne Kasler’s Southport Rattan collection, we designed a space that played up the tropical feel of these wicker pieces. Since the room is filled with woven furniture pieces and is anchored by a natural fiber rug, we knew we needed to make the bedding stand out. We chose Suzanne Kasler’s Eyelet Bedding to bring in the perfect amount of romance. The geometric floral pattern is cut and sewn entirely by hand for one-of-a-kind heirloom quality and really ties this tropical room together.
